LAST year Alex Mettler and I produced a book to honour the memory of the men of Tavistock who fell in the first world war.

We are now engaged on a project to produce a companion volume, dealing this time with the casualties of world war two.

The core of our work is the list of 40 names that feature on our war memorial. With some of the names it is proving difficult to gather information about background, family, early career etc.

We would be very grateful for any data of any kind about any of the people concerned. In particular we would value information on the following: Geoffrey Adams (1920-1944), Norman Chappel (1900-1941), Albert Fogerty (1920-1941), Basil Jones (1919-1943), Robert Little (1920-1943), Leslie Miles (1916-1943), Herbert Nettleton (1913-1941), Samuel Ridgway (1901-1941), Ronald Rooke (1919-1942), John Stanley (1917-1941), Kenneth Toye (1920-1941), Murry Willcocks (1915-1942).
