A FORMER Tavistock man who is building up a pictorial website on Shaugh Prior hopes that Times readers may be able to help. Don Balkwill, who wrote ?Memories of Childhood Growing up at Shaugh Prior? and grew up in the area in the 1950s, is especially looking for old photographs of Shaugh Prior and Shaugh Bridge. Don, 61, who now lives in Abergavenny in South Wales and is a mortgage underwriter, lived in West Devon until he was 18 when he left to join the RAF. He is a former pupil of Shaugh Prior School and Tavistock Grammar School. On his site ? http://www.shaugh.net">www.shaugh.net ? there is also a short video of an old steam train passing through Shaugh Bridge station before it closed in 1962. Don said: ?I?m hoping that people will send me more old photographs of the Shaugh area so that I can add them to the collection on the site. I?m no expert in website creation so any comments or suggestions you may have for improving the site would be appreciated. I would also like any general comments you have regarding the site.? If you can help Don he can be contacted on 01873 859017.
