AN appeal was released this week for Okehampton residents concerned for the future of their town to get involved with a group hoping to bring about a bright new vision for the area.
The Okehampton Market and Coastal Town Initiative (MCTI) locality group is pulling together all the ideas put forward at the community consultation day held in Simmons Park last November.
Marilyn Tucker, group spokesperson, said there were lots of good ideas for the future of the town but there was concern that not all areas had been covered.
She said the group wanted anyone who had a vision for the future to join them in trying to carry projects through.
Marilyn said: 'MCTI is an exciting and challenging process and we need to bring together as many viewpoints as we can to make sure we start on the right road for a brighter and more prosperous future for Okehampton.
'MCTI is not just about what we want to happen tomorrow, but also it takes the longer view of making the town what the residents want it to be for themselves and their children and grandchildren.'
The locality group launches the next stage of its action plan at an open meeting on April 29 at the Ockment Centre, starting at 5.30pm.
