Tavistock Ladies' first 6 Exe Ladies' thirds 2 THE game opened with Tavistock, with only ten players, working hard in defence as it seemed that they were always outnumbered in the 'D'. Tavistock were awarded a short corner and a good solid ball from Laura Stapleton allowed Susannah Boulle to score the opening goal. The opposition equalised not long after this and Tavistock yet again felt under pressure. Laura Armstrong worked well on the left for Tavistock and coupled with Sarah Barratt, these two players battled well and never gave up. The forward play from Jo Gaspar and Judy Miller resulted in Miller scoring the second goal to give the home team a half-time lead of 2-1. Tavistock knew they had to lift their game in order to win this match. Boulle and Fiona Dunn worked well in Tavistock's defence and Dunn had numerous runs up the pitch. Lisa Butler picked up her game for Tavistock and worked well with Sarah Holton who made some really good tackles and was strong when in possession. The opposition scored again to take the score to 2-2 but it was not long before Tavistock retaliated and started knocking the goals in. A penalty flick was awarded to the opposition but the excellent goalkeeping of Zoe Viggers kept Tavistock free from the opposition scoring as Viggers saved the shot. Miller scored the third goal and with Stapleton looking to drive the ball up the pitch it was not long before Tavistock had another short corner from which Stapleton scored. Despite being a player short, Tavistock kept working hard and never assumed the game was always secure. This determination resulted in Barratt scoring two goals taking the final score to a positive and well deserved 6-2 victory.
