BOWDEN Hostas in Sticklepath continues to add to its impressive RHS gold medal haul, with a win at the Tatton Park Flower Show. The award was for a display of hostas, all set amidst rotting oak driftwood and plenty of lush green moss. Tim Penrose, chief executive of the firm, said he was thrilled with the victory. Bowdens have recently embarked on a major refurbishment at its premises in Sticklepath. They have three special open days from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31. Admission is £3 for adults, children enter free and there will be complimentary coffee and cake served all day. Activities for the children include a garden hunt for the missing slugs and a more tricky adult hunt for those who like a local knowledge challenge. Children will also have a craft activity and lashings of ginger beer. This will be interspersed with live music throughout the day and the Bowdens vintage 1920 wireless churning out retro music. Plants will be available for purchase all day and Tim Penrose on hand to give some expert advice.
