THE Manor House development was high on the agenda at Tavistock Tree Preservation Group?s recent open meeting at Kingdom House. Chairman Brian Fyfield Shayler told members that West Devon Borough Council has placed Tree Preservation Orders on all trees in the park adjacent to the old house to ensure they are protected. The borough council were thanked for their maintenance work which continues along Viaduct Walk. The group is monitoring the situation with the large Sycamore in Watts Road, while the veteran Honour Oak has benefited greatly by works carried out by the borough council. The next working party will be in St Eustachius churchyard on April 24 at 7pm, carrying out work at the base of a number of trees. Anyone who wants to join will be welcome. Tree wardens are also sought to join the present three members. For information, call David Chapman on 01822 813600. Thanks were expressed to Tavistock Ladies Gardening Club who generously donated £60 to TTPG. Mary Toon was also thanked for producing the Wood Cuts booklet, priced at £2 from Bookstop. Funds raised will go towards the benefit of Tavistock?s trees. The next meeting is on September 12 at 7.30pm at Kingdom House.
