PEOPLE are being urged to attend Tavistock Farmers' Market on Saturday (May 8) to find out about a number of new environmental schemes being launched by Transition Tavistock.

The group is about responding to the challenges of peak oil and climate change and wants to help the community become more sustainable and produce its own renewable energy.

Transition Tavistock will be telling people about EcoTeams — an opportunity to work with other local families and friends to try out ways to save money by reducing energy, waste, water and travel costs, the Tool Pool sharing tools idea, smart meters for monitoring energy production, the Food Group for seed swapping and the Garden Share scheme.

If you've installed renewable energy, energy or water saving devices, have a sustainable building you're proud of or anything similar you'd like to share come along and let Transition Tavistock know.

l There will be a 'Green Drinks' event on Tuesday (May 11) between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at the Market Inn, Tavistock.
