YOUNG Musicians of Mount House School in Tavistock achieved outstanding results in the latest round of examinations set by internationally recognised musical bodies.

Sixteen pupils took a total of 18 exams and achieved a 100% pass rate.

Musical Theatre exams were introduced for the first time this year.

These exams are set by the London College of Music, and are AQA accredited in the same way as the Associated Board of Music exams.

Both offer a progressive system of assessments, and are designed to motivate pupils and students at all levels by providing clear, attainable goals.

Seven Mount House pupils took the Musical Theatre papers, and 11 took the Associated Board exams. Of the 18 passes achieved, 10 were assessed as Distinctions with a further three being awarded Merit grades.

Four of the pupils took examinations at Grade five or above.

Elizabeth Fearnley gained distinctions at Grade six for Musical Theatre, and at Grade three for piano.

Samantha Unsworth-White was awarded distinctions at Grade five for Musical Theatre and Grade three for piano.

Isabel Kidner and Rosie Luther achieved distinctions at Grade five for Theory of Music and Musical Theatre respectively.
