Plymouth and District League Okehampton Ladies Seconds 0 Callington 1 Okehampton Ladies Seconds were faced with an ?old-fashioned? gravel pitch for this fixture at Saltash which was to test their stamina and determination. Unaccustomed to the uneven surface Oke were caught on the back foot early on in the game and, following a scrappy encounter in the Oke circle, Callington found the back of the net as Oke were unable to clear the ball. The team were dealt a further blow when a lifted ball hit centre forward Grace Thorp on the head and she was forced to retire from the match. The young Oke team showed great resilience and fought back strongly with halves Sarah Jones and Sophie Whitely providing the forwards with quality passes. Captain Abi Colton worked tirelessly putting constant pressure on the Callington defence but the team were unable to convert this attacking play into goals. Callington always looked dangerous on the break but were thwarted repeatedly by strong determined tackling from Amanda Sim. Oke were disappointed with the result but their strong team spirit encouraged their play in these unusual conditions. Players of the match for Oke were newcomer Nat Dennis and Sophie Whitely.
