CALSTOCK Parish Council has agreed to give a grant of £250 towards the first ever Calstock Jazz and Blues Festival.

Members said that the event, at the end of October, was a good thing for the parish as a whole as it was involving all ages of the community.

They agreed the grant following a talk about the festival by chairman of the steering group Alastair Tinto who said that every venue in Calstock would be hosting a musical event or workshop.

The council has agreed to sponsor a particular part of the festival involving the young people and suggested that the parish council chairman should be there to open it.
