PGSOB 3
Okehampton 6
THE visitors started very positively, attacking the home side straight from the start.
They opened the scoring after five minutes when a series of passes resulted in Simon Bourne smashing the ball in from the edge of the area. However, within seconds the hosts went straight down the other end and equalised with a well-taken goal.
In a frenetic opening five minutes Okehampton then restored their lead when Mark Parsons ran through and lifted the ball over the advancing keeper.
Before another goal came for the away side, Oke's defence failed to stop PGSOBs from scoring an equaliser for the second time.
Playing the better hockey, the away side rallied again and started to keep possession of the ball, and a third goal was scored when some excellent passing between Luke Miller, Bourne and then Parsons teed up Bourne for a superb team goal.
Okehampton piled on the pressure and won a short corner which Parsons slotted in when the keeper left his near post exposed.
Parsons then got his hat-trick with a reverse strike into the bottom corner after an excellent quick pass from James Rogers.
Just before half-time another great flowing move saw Miller flick the ball past the advancing keeper and Okehampton were cruising at the break.
In the second half Okehampton failed to recreate the same form and eased off, allowing the hosts to apply some pressure.
They managed a consolation goal half-way through the half and Oke had a couple of good opportunities with Bourne and Stuart Jarvis both hitting the post and Josh Speak forcing a good save from the keeper.
This was an excellent result which lifts Okehampton into third place in the league. Man of the match: Tim Morgan.
