THIS first match was a promising start to the season.

Columbines dominated from the outset, with Beccy Mortimore controlling the middle and Elaine Morgan pushing forward out of defence,

Newton Abbot rarely put Sharon Parsons in Okehampton's goal under pressure.

At the other end several good moves had Newton Abbot's defence in disarray, but it was Kelly Cooper who finally broke the deadlock with a good strike at goal.

Okehampton looked confident in the second half and Columbines continued to pass and move the ball about well.

A determined run by Kelly and some good link play saw her net a deserved second goal.

Jo Moppett had an excellent second half on the right wing and created a number of goal scoring chances. Again it was good team play that led to the third goal, when a pass to Sue Stanbury found her in space on the edge of the circle and she shot past the keeper.

But for a good display from the Newton Abbot keeper the final tally would have been higher and Columbines can be pleased with a fine performance.
