THE Okehampton Junior Netball League held its first matches on October 11.
There has been a good response and the league has been formed with a total of seven teams from school years 7, 8 and 9.
The league will be split into two halves before and after Christmas and any new teams wishing to join can do so in January.
Four matches have been played so far and the results are as follows: October 11: Dudettes (2) v Chix (35); GWA (2) v Sugar ?n? Spice (22).
October 18: Bubblegum (3) v Limited Edition (12); Pretzels (12) v Bubblegum (3).
The league have been fortunate to receive funding from Okehampton Town Council, Okehampton Ladies Netball League and local business Heinz of Okehampton have sponsored the league by providing two sets of bibs for the teams.
Thanks were expressed to Heinz by the league when Julie Dunn attended the matches played on October 18.
The league is hoping to run some coaching sessions for the young players and it is hoped that these girls will continue on to the Ladies? league in Okehampton.
