Leander League U16s Saltash Utd 2 Tavistock Girls 5 DESPITE missing key players, Tavistock took control from the start under the command of captain Chloe Bassett. They welcomed back Clarice Payne and her strong accurate shots put the keeper under pressure. McMullin was the first to find the back of the net but Saltash pulled one back. Hard work from Bassett and McMullin set Nicholson up to put Tavistock in the lead again at half time. The second half saw Tavistock go further ahead by another McMullin goal and newcomer Kirsty Chan scored a screamer of a goal. Payne was always on target but great keeping kept her out. Saltash pulled another back but Nicholson finished off yet another fine team performance. Player of the match: Becky McMullin. Vivid A League U14s Tavistock Girls 4 Manstow 2 TOP met second top and Tavistock struggled all the way. Play went from end to end with great defending from Shaw and Glasspoole. Saunders on left wing and Moody on right wing began to link with Rose to pound the Manstow goal but the keeper was in good form. The second half saw Eales join play and link well with Gordon. Tavistock began to win a number of corners and when Turner floated in a curving ball Rose smashed it home. Another fine cross from Saunders went across the goalmouth for Eales to tap home. Manstow were strong on the breaks and after a cross Tavistock tried to clear but it deflected off a defender for a goal. Tavistock lost Eales through a knock and Turner returned. Manstow broke through and smashed a shot that was going in until Maguire pushed it over the bar. Slack defending saw a fine shot giving Maguire no chance. Rose ran down the wing and a long curling shot went straight into the net. Moody finished off after one two passing. The girls now have a comfortable ten points lead.
