DOZENS of children took part in the Tavistock and Area Inter-Schools Swimming Gala organised by Tavistock Swimming Club, Meadowlands and West Devon Borough Council. Held at Meadowlands Leisure Pool, ten primary schools from the area took part. The day was organised by Shelia Radgick of Tavistock Swimming Club, and Tammy Messenger, West Devon Borough Council's Sports Development Officer. The most sporting team with the best team spirit on the day was Milton Abbot Primary who won the Fair Play Award. Winner of the large schools section was Tavistock, with St Andrews Buckland Monachorum School coming second and Bickleigh Down, third. In the small schools category, Meavy came first, Milton Abbot, second, and Walkhampton were third. The teams taking part were from Gulworthy, Bickleigh Down, a joint entry from Lamerton and Mary Tavy, Milton Abbot, St Andrews Buckland Monachorum, St Peters, Tavistock, Walkhampton, Whitchurch and Meavy.
