THE United Reformed Church in Tavistock will play host to a hustings for Tavistock and the surrounding area on April 24, providing people with an opportunity to put a question to the local parliamentary candidates.

The chairperson will select the questions to ensure a broad selection of topics can be covered on the night and these will be asked after each candidate has had a chance to introduce themselves.

The doors will open at 6.30pm for the event to start at 7pm. It is expected to finish at 9pm. Refreshments will be on sale to help the church cover the cost of the event.

The local prospective parliamentary candidates for West Devon and Torridge will all be participating and are Geoffrey Cox – Conservative, Cathrine Simmons — Green Party, Michael Sparling – Labour, Paula Dolphin — Lib Dem, Derek Sargent — UKIP.

The event has been organised and is being supported by a wide number of local organisations, including Tavistock Chamber of Commerce, Tavistock United Reformed Church, Tavistock Quakers and Transition Tavistock, Mount Kelly Foundation, Peninsula Rail Group, Tamar Energy Community, Tavistock Area Churches Together (TACT), Tavistock Community College and Tavistock Peace Action Group.
