AS part of a fundraising campaign to keep a unique West Devon theatre company going, a silent auction is being held next month.

The Get Changed Theatre Company, set up seven years ago to meet the needs of people with learning disabilities who wanted to develop drama skills, is desperately seeking funds to continue taking hard-hitting drama productions to audiences across the South West.

All work by the group, which operates out of Okehampton and Tavistock, was suspended last month after a funding application to Comic Relief failed.

Co-ordinator for Get Changed Vicky Hooper said the group had recently approached many national companies and local businesses for support for a charity ?silent? auction and there had been a fantastic response, resulting in around 50 donations.

Any members of the public interested in making a bid for items varying from a professional family portrait to meal vouchers and Fisher Price toys can contact Vicky on 01837 54133/55204 for the list of items to be auctioned along with a recommended retail price. It will then be up to the public to bid what they think is a reasonable price.

The goods will be on display on Saturday at the Mencap Christmas coffee morning in the Charter Hall, The Leaze coffee morning on December 4 and at Okehampton Edwardian Evening in the Market Hall on December 5.

Bids need to be returned by December 10 and whoever offers the best price can purchase and receive their items in good time for Christmas.

Vicky said: ?We need support from local people to keep the company going and this is a good chance to stock up on Christmas gifts and help a worthy cause at the same time.

?I would like to thank all the businesses who have donated products for the auction.?
