ON behalf of all members of the Bere Alston branch of the Royal British Legion I would like to thank all of the people, who live on the Bere Peninsula for their kind and generous support, which they gave to the branch, on this years Remembrance Sunday.

The attendance at the Bere Ferrers War Memorial in the morning was well supported, considering the weather forecast. The church service was excellent, the Tavy Tars were in full flow, which was really appreciated by the congregation.

In the afternoon, at the Bere Alston War Memorial, once again the turn-out was fantastic, well above our expectations. The support from all the different youth organisations was excellent, they contribute so much to the parade by being there.

I would also like to thank, Mansbridge and Balment, Spar, Bere Peninsula Pharmacy, J A N Brown and Bere Ferrers Social Club, who sponsored the various youth organisations by donating the cost of each wreath, which was laid on the war memorial.

We must also thank the Police for their support for traffic control.

This year Remembrance Day Wednesday was also very well attended at the Bere Alston War Memorial, for the two minutes silence to honour all those that have given their lives in World War One/World War Two and the many other conflicts since then. Year six from Bere Alston Primary School laid their wreath on the war memorial. Each year numbers at this ceremony increase and we welcome all of those who wish to attend in the future.

Your generosity raised £1,703.80 towards this year's Poppy Appeal. The money raised will help those ex servicemen and women in the years to come.
