LIFTON is getting ready to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee by marking the occasion with a street party and festivities.
On Tuesday, June 4, the village's local history group will turn back the clock to 1887, and recreate some of the characters and occasions in Lifton at the time of Queen Victoria's Jubilee. This will be followed by a street party.
Film footage of Lifton and district from TSW Film Archives, over the 50 years of Queen Elizabeth's reign will also be shown as part of the celebrations.
A general meeting is to be held on Monday, March 25, at 7.30pm in the Tamar Room at the Arundell Arms, to discuss the programme.

l A car boot sale to raise funds for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in Yelverton is being held this Saturday, March 23.
The Mutton Corner fund-raisers are holding their second car boot sale at the Leg O' Mutton Inn car park at 11am.
An earlier car boot sale in February raised £101 for the planned children's party and musical fun day to be held in Yelverton on June 3.
