A PERSON had to be taken to hospital following the collision of a car and a gas meter box in Dousland Road, Yelverton, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Fire crews from Yelverton, Crownhill and Tavistock as well as the gas detection monitor attended the incident just before 3.40am.

A 200-metre safety cordon was set up around the area, and the driver was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital by ambulance.

A hosereel jet was extended and prepared for use and two breathing apparatus stood by while the gas company made the supply safe.
