GARDENERS and green-fingered people are being sought to attend a special meeting organised by Tavistock BID.
Following BID's success in the South West in Bloom Pennant Awards last year — when it was awarded a Silver Gilt Pennant Award — the town is now being entered into the main Gold category.
BID also wants to enter into the sub-category 'Your Neighbourhood Award' — which can feature entrants who are proud of their garden, to people proud of their allotments.
BID manager Lisa Wadling said: 'We want to work with all groups, not just to do with flowers but also education, heritage and working with the community.
'Anyone who wants to get involved can attend the meeting and find out what we are doing and can give a helping hand.
'Anyone who is proud of their yard and proud of their town who want to be a part in this can learn more at the meeting.'
The meeting will be held at the Bedford Hotel, Tavistock, on Thursday, January 30 at 6pm.
The pennant was a new category introduced for BID towns, of which there are 20 in the South West.
And due to the judging panel last year being so impressed by the town, they asked to hold the spring conference in Tavistock, due to its 'wonderful identity' and 'lovely community spirit'.
The conference will be on February 27 and will bring 120 delegates from Bristol to Penzance.
