FOR those Christians in our areas, indeed over the whole country, unable to get to their places of worship over the Christmas period due to the extreme weather conditions, full marks must go to the BBC for 'coming up trumps'.
With the excellent series of plays on the Nativity, the ever-magical carols and readings from King's College, a magnificent traditional midnight mass from Liverpool on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day Eucharist from Tewkesbury Abbey, another delightful service of carols from Winchester Cathedral, and the always popular 'Songs of Praise' with 'Big Sing' from the Royal Albert Hall.
It was a truly wonderful line-up of programmes, focussing on the real meaning of this festive season!
On the other hand, the seemingly anti-Christian ITV managed just 25 minutes of carols on Christmas morning. Absolutely pathetic!
I would like to hear the points of view of other Times readers. Incidentally, a sincere word of praise and thanks to all our churches and chapels, with their ministers and local preachers, for the sterling work they do throughout the whole year.
