FOR anyone who fancies trying their hand at amateur dramatics, Bere Peninsula Community Theatre Group is currently auditioning for parts in the pantomime 'Aladdin' to be performed after Christmas.
The group is also casting for an exciting project which will be performed in a woodland area on the Bere Peninsula on mid-summer's eve in 2012 — a specially adapted version of William Shakespeare's, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
The group meets in the parish hall in Bere Alston every Thursday from 6.30pm to 8:30pm. Sessions cost £1 per visit and the group welcomes everybody to audition, from school Year 4 through to adults of any age.
Auditions usually take place in the informal setting of a theatre workshop and actors are never pushed into taking parts that do not interest them.
A spokesman for the group said: 'At this time, a very small team of adults run the group and more adults are needed to help in all areas of our work.
'Qualifications are not necessary. Our director is a professionally qualified community and youth officer with over twenty years' experience, specialising in theatre in education, but such qualifications are not necessary.
'We need adults from all walks of life who simply have a little of their free time to offer each week or even every other week.'
Call director Steve Costello for more information on 07727 141471, email [email protected]">[email protected] or call into the parish hall in Bere Alston during any of the Thursday evening rehearsals.
