AMBITIOUS Tavistock AFC have signed former Plymouth Argyle defender Aaron Bentley, the club has announced,

Bentley, who was at Southern League outfit Taunton Town, decided to make the move to the Western League Lambs after becoming disenchanted with life in Somerset, where he was apparently not getting sufficient opportunities to play for the first team.

Tavistock first-team boss Stuart Henderson said: ‘It’s a good signing - we were looking for a centre half. I knew him, as he was at my football academy when he was 13 or 14 and he was signed for Argyle when (former Stoke City and England defender) Mike Pejic was there.’

Bentley made his debut for Plymouth Argyle in 2014, before being released by the Pilgrims in 2016. His other clubs have included Truro City and two spells for Tavistock’s Western League rivals Plymouth Parkway. He signed for Taunton in June.
