THERE is a sad irony in the fact that the number of traders using Tavistock pannier market has declined sharply when its lighting, heating and doors have been vastly improved.
And this at a time also when a so-called local government body contemplates providing itself with new offices on one of the town's largest car parks.
It seems there are forces at work destroying Tavistock's historic role of market town, one of which is easily identified.
