TAVISTOCK TOWN Football Club officially unveiled the first phase of the re-development of their club house at their Langsford Park ground last Saturday. The extension was officially opened by Tavistock MP and club President Geoffrey Cox and was attended by a number of guests including the club?s committee members. One of the features of the new development is a new extension, which includes a new first floor meeting room named in memory of former club chairman, the late Robin Fenner who died three years ago from cancer. The idea was originally the brainchild of Mr Fenner. It was taken on by the club?s committee to help recognise the contribution that he made to the club. Current club chairman Derek Pethick said: ?Mr Fenner was club chairman for several years. He had two stints as chairman. He was 100% behind Tavistock Town. It was his idea to add the extension and viewing gallery.? He also added: ?The work was done by volunteers and cost us in the region of £25,000.? The club will now be looking to start work on phase two of the re-development of the social club that will see the inclusion of a new kitchen unit and a beer garden. Mr Pethick said: ?It will be a nice place for young families to come along and enjoy our facilities.? Last season, the club welcomed local ITV sports show Westcountry Soccer Night to the club. They will be hoping that they will be making a return to the club during the current campaign.
