PUT the best feet forward and get those running shoes on for Children In Need this year with Okehampton Round Table?s five-legged race. Starting promptly from the gates of Okehampton College at 7.30pm tomorrow (Friday), the teams will race through town stopping at pubs along the way. There will be prizes for the first men?s, ladies? and mixed teams as well as a prize for the best fancy dress and the team that raises the most sponsorship money. There have to be four people in each team, tied firmly to each other at the ankle. Teams have to supply their own ties and bindings with no loose or long lengths of elasticated cord. One member of each team is required to consume one drink at each designated pub ? any team that does not consume a drink at each pub will be disqualified. Teams will have to buy their own drinks and must follow the route according to the plan. Route maps are available from the Fountain Hotel and the Plume of Feathers in Okehampton but details and entry forms are in all the Okehampton pubs as well as the Post Office, DIY Supplies, Angus McPhie Optometrists and Donald?s Menswear. The entry fee is £5 but this is waived if a team raises more than £10 in sponsorship. l Children in Need is unique in combining top class entertainment and raising money. This spirit will be carried forward at All Saints Church tomorow (Friday) at 7.30pm. The Men?s Forum are to give a concert featuring various solo and instrumental items as well as their excellent choral numbers. They have been together for about ten years and are under the direction of Ruth and Gordon Trenamen. All profits from the event will be going to Children in Need.
