MY thanks to reporter Alison Stephenson for a great piece last week on the problems facing Tavistock Trout Fishery and its conflict with the Environment Agency over water extraction levels. Our family of otters feed on our lovely fresh fish. They are mostly about at night but can sometimes be seen in the day time. Our beautiful kingfishers flourish because our water is good and food plentiful. Both the otters and the kingfishers are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Please help preserve the clean and friendly environment at Tavistock Trout Fishery and most importantly our good flow of water for both my anglers and wildlife to enjoy! I would like to say to all readers of the Times whether they have ever visited us or not, that their letter will count. They can help save the fishery and its inhabitants by putting pen to paper and supporting our endangered species. Please write a letter to the MP asking him to save these lovely creatures and preserve Tavistock Trout Fishery just the way it is today. Every single letter will help. Please also post a copy to Abigail at Tavistock Trout Fishery, Parkwood Rd, Tavistock, Devon, PL19 9JW. All Times readers are invited to visit the fishery to see this local beauty spot. His address is Geoffrey Cox MP, 2 Bridge Chambers, Lower Bridge Street, Bideford, Devon, EX39 2BU. I have had kind offers to put my petitions in the following places in Tavistock, so the public are welcome to call in to these places and join in my campaign to save Tavistock Trout Fishery as a local attraction:- Vaughan?s Hairdressers opposite Somerfield; Vaughan?s Hair and Beauty behind the Market; The Original Barber Shop at the back of the market, and Harford Bridge Caravan Park.
