TAVISTOCK squash team suffered its second defeat of the season against Exmouth at home.

Playing at number five for Tavistock, Adrian Bower took an early lead before his Exmouth opponent rallied to take a 2-1 lead.

Adrian composed himself to take control in the fourth game when his opponent suddenly conceded, unhappy with marking decisions not going in his favour.

The Tavistock number four, Peter Middleton, went down 2-0 in a closely contested match.

It was left to Colin Grice at number three so steady the ship, which he did admirably by taking a 3-0 victory over Tony Heggadon of Exmouth.

At two ties to one Tavistock's position looked encouraging and Tim Wallis at number two took an early lead in his tie before his opponent rallied, taking the next two games.

The best squash of the match was left to the fourth game, which both players had opportunities to win, but eventually went Exmouth's way.

With the score 2-2 Andy Gauler faced an uphill struggle against a hard hitting, athletic opponent of similar style to himself.

Andy went down 3-0 in a match which had its controversy, involving a large degree of close contact.
