TWO fire crews from Tavistock were quickly on hand last Friday to put out a fire which broke out in the laundry room of Brown?s Hotel in West Street. The crews dealt with the fire involving two tumble driers in the ground floor utility area of the three-storey building. The fire brigade were called at 11.30am and were on the scene just two minutes later as firefighters were already with a tender at nearby Bedford Square ? honouring their four Warwickshire colleagues who had died earlier this month tackling a warehouse fire. Firefighters used four breathing apparatus sets and one hose reel to tackle the fire which destroyed clothes and the two tumble driers. Staff and customers were evacuated from the premises as firefighters tackled the fire. Firefighters were on the scene for one and a half hours.
