Lewdown v Woodland Fort

LEWDOWN continued their good form with a convincing win over high flying and third placed Woodland Fort. Fort have only lost on four occasions this season, twice against Lewdown.

Lewdown?s Brenden Worth won the toss and asked Fort to bat on a dry track that has produced high scores all season.

Things started well with Charlie Hughes bowling the Fort opener second ball. It was evident that Fort were full of confidence following their recent run of form, as they were playing their shots from the start of their innings.

Lewdown continued where they left off last week, bowling and fielding with excellent discipline. Wickets soon followed and the dangerous Fort top order was soon blown away.

Lewdown did not let up and dismissed Fort for just 76 runs, with Ade Edmonds bowling well for 3 wickets, but the star was Charlie Hughes with 7 wickets.

There was a heavy shower for half an hour which changed the nature of the wicket, making it almost unplayable for the next hour. Lewdown lost an early wicket to a ball that rose sharply, and Dave Ball and Dean Summersby had to be watchful to some sharp and short pitched bowling. Again, Fort had plenty to say for themselves and again Lewdown rose to the occasion, doing their talking with the bat and ball, running out convincing winners by 9 wickets with some 42 overs remaining. Dave Ball top scored with a fine 48 not out.

Lewdown 19 points beat Woodland Fort 0 points by 9 wickets, and have now won four of their last five games.

Next game home versus Kingskerswell.
