WHETHER it?s Lord of the Rings or Lord of the Flies, Winnie the Pooh or War and Peace, readers in the Okehampton area are being urged to vote for their favourite in a nationwide search to find Britain?s best loved book.
The aim of The Big Read is to get people enthused, excited and talking about books which can bring pleasure to the nation ? even if they have not turned the pages of a novel in years.
From this Saturday, April 5, until Saturday April 19, members of the public can go along to Okehampton or Chagford Library and nominate their best-loved book by using the free computers based at the library.
Alternatively, votes can be cast by calling 09011 110 820 or by using the BBC website at http://www.bbc.uk/bigread">www.bbc.uk/bigread
The book nominated must be a single work of fiction and can be written by an author of any nationality, providing it has been translated into English.
The two-week nomination period will determine Britain?s top 100 books by the end of April, with the top ten revealed in the autumn.
