A?youth support service in Okehampton marked Holocaust Memorial Day recently with films, live music and discussion.

The event was held by Room 13 in St James Street and was well attended by both young people and other members of the community, including Cllr Christine Marsh, the Rev David Muir and many other local supporters as well as local families who came along.

Young people prepared freshly baked bread and home-made vegetable soup as well as cakes, buns and other treats.

They showed films and played games young people had devised with youth workers, around exploring and celebrating their identity, looking to the future as the caretakers and decision makers of the earth and building strong links with their local community.

Live music was provided by local young people and supported by youth workers.

Richard Green, senior youth support worker with Devon Youth Service, said: 'It was very important to young people to show that Room 13 gives them the support to get involved in their community as rightful citizens.?We were all delighted that it was such a well attended success.'
