A CELEBRATORY short film focusing on the community spirit of Tavistock has been created as part of a county-wide festival of volunteering — and is now available to view on YouTube.

The film was created earlier this year, by West Devon CVS, as a partner of Devon Voluntary Action, with the help of Big Lottery funding and representatives of Tavistock College, Tavistock Youth Café, Tavistock Town Council and Tavistock Area Support Services.

Directed by Tim Roberts of Fatcalf Media and introduced by Angela Rippon, the heart-warming and life-affirming film recognises, celebrates and thanks the participating volunteers of all ages and abilities for their contribution towards a variety of community based projects that deliver services locally.

Billie Burnett, information co-ordinator for West Devon Community and Voluntary Services, said: ‘These individuals, who clearly love what they do, generously give up their time to help others, and at the same time, play a crucial part in the continuing success of the groups they are helping.

‘The groups featured are those that are based in and active in Tavistock and who do not have the backing of a larger regional or national organisation.’

The film was shown for the first time in West Devon CVS’ Festival of Volunteering gazebo in the Meadows on Sunday, July 9 as part of Tavistock Carnival’s Fun Day. Now it’s on YouTube for everyone to see. Visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BsBGlYBwC0 or you can watch the video below or enter ‘celebrating volunteering’ in the search bar on YouTube.com

Numerous local people from a number of organisations star in the film — follow the link to see who.
