TAVISTOCK and District Access Group has announced a new edition of the Access Guide for Tavistock for 2008. The guide is the fifth edition from the group, which was founded in 1990 and campaigns to improve access to shops and businesses for the disabled. ?We continue to work with the shopkeepers and business managers to improve the accessibility of premises for all with physical, sensory or mobility problems and for parents with push chairs,? said chairman Judith Williams. ?There have been major and minor improvements, ranging from bells, handrails, automated doors and many dropped curbs, but we continue with our work to make Tavistock a great place for everyone to live, work and play.? The guide will have the same format as before, said Mrs Williams, and will be available free from the library, information centre and doctors? surgeries, thanks to a grant from West Devon Borough Council. The access group is also looking for new committee members and is inviting all comers to its annual meeting at Social Services, Abbey Rise, Tavistock, on Monday, October 1 at 6.30pm.
