SPECIAL parking arrangements have been put in place leading up to and during the Tavistock Food and Drink Festival, which takes place at the end of this month. The festival, now in its third year, will be held under a giant marquee in Bedford Car Park. Whilst the festival, which attracts thousands of visitors, is held on Saturday July 29 and Sunday July 30, work on building the marquee needs to start on Friday July 28 and the majority of the car park will be closed off during this time. To compensate for the loss of parking spaces on the Friday, parking is being offered at Tavistock College for an all day charge of £2.50, except for Tavistock town centre season ticket and permit holders who can park for free. A free shuttle bus service will run from the college to Tavistock town centre on that day between 8am and 6pm. During the festival weekend itself, a park and ride system for the town is being managed by Tavistock Lions and Tavistock Round Table. Parking will be available in a field off Crowndale Road during the two days for a fee of £3.50 each day. On the Saturday, the free bus shuttle will run to and from Tavistock town centre from 9am to 6pm and on Sunday, from 10am to 6pm.
