A TAVISTOCK man this week appeared before Plymouth Magistrates Court, charged with the murder of his seven-week-old baby son. Michael Burridge, aged 27, of Chestnut Close, Bishopsmead, was arrested after baby Rees was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth on September 30 this year, suffering from head and chest injuries. The baby was transferred to a hospital in Bristol, where he subsequently died on October 2. Mr Burridge, a former milkman and now a self-employed window cleaner, was remanded on bail until December 11 while a police investigation took place. Magistrates on Tuesday refused an application for Mr Burridge to be released on bail and remanded him in custody, to appear before Plymouth Crown Court on March 23 when a plea hearing will take place.
