A FORUM for families of Autistic Spectrum Disorder sufferers in West Devon is being held to discuss how local services can be improved.

The round table forum has been arranged by Geoffrey Cox, MP for West Devon and Torridge, and will be attended by the chief executive of the Devon Partnership Trust, Ian Tulley. Mr Cox is inviting all those with an interest in provision for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in West Devon to take part in the meeting.

Mr Cox recently co-sponsored a Private Member's Bill in Parliament to improve national policy on the condition, and is arranging the forum so that the Devon Partnership Trust, and its chief executive, who is responsible for the treatment and provision for Autism, can learn directly of the difficulties faced by local families in gaining recognition and help for their family members, particularly those living in rural communities.

Mr Cox said: 'In my regular meetings and discussions with local families, I am keenly aware of the constant battle in our rural area to secure the best possible treatment and help for loved ones suffering from an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This forum will, I very much hope, lead to a greater understanding of those problems, and a will to make Devon a leader in creating opportunities for those with Autism.'

The forum will take place on March 11. For more information call 01237 459001.
