Lamerton 3

Pensilva 0

STRONG winds played havoc and a combination of luck and last ditch defending only kept Lamerton on level terms at half time.

Steve Gibbings' goal- line tackle and Rob Dicken sliding expertly on a Pensilva striker through on goal prevented Pensilva going in front.

Pensilva wasted the free kick and other chances to take the lead and it proved their undoing as Lamerton turned it around to dominate the second half.

Kev Swift and Rich Searle both scored from just a few yards out, following some lack- lustre defending and Simon Breyley got on the end of a Tony Jones cross to side foot home from eight yards.

NEITHER team had any real clear-cut chances and it came down to an excellently placed free kick from 20 yards by Lamerton's Kev Swift in the second half to divide the teams.

Swift guided it into the far top corner from the right hand side of the penalty area after Rich Searle's goal-bound run had been crudely brought to a halt.

Altarnun's best chance to equalise came late, when Stuart Cole found space in the box, but with two players screaming at him to square it, he opted to shoot into the arms of Pete Daniel in the Lamerton goal. Blair Vanstone came on to liven things up front and his outlet saw Lamerton nearly score late on.

• On Saturday Lamerton are away to Looe Town, 2.30pm.
