A CROWD of 406 came to watch this West Devon derby game staged as part of the South West Peninsula League Easter ground hop.

Okehampton put in a stubborn performance and were always in the game but it was the visitors who made the best chances and the result was just about the right one.

Oke's goalkeeper Harry Geering had an inspired game and impressed the crowd with a string of fine saves and generally Argyle matched Holsworthy in midfield, but it was up front where the visitors looked far more dangerous.

Holsworthy almost took the lead after 20 minutes when a fierce header from Liam Dart produced a great reaction save from Harry Geering. The Okes tried to fight back and a strong 30 yard shot from Ricky Wooldridge was well dealt with by Holsworthy keeper Dean Chidley.

Ten minutes into the second half, Holsworthy scored the only goal of the game when Mitchal Cisneros crossed for Liam Dart to head back across Geering and inside the far post. A few minutes later, Geering kept Argyle in the game when he made a superb save to keep out Lee Morgan's six yard volley.

The Okes tried hard to pull the match out of the fire and Steve Williams fired just over the bar, but the closest they came to scoring was when Ricky Wooldridge's shot was parried by Chidley only for Ryan Davies to clear off the line. The Okes brought on substitutes Jonjo Fellows and Stuart Cann in an attempt to change things round but this was to no avail, and a few minutes from the end, full back Shane Monnox suffered a head injury and had to be taken to hospital after the game with concussion. Dave Smith came on and didn't put a foot wrong in filling in for his teammate.

Oke's keeper Harry Geering was without doubt man of the match and Ed Squire put in a strong performance in midfield for the home side. A big thanks is also due to all the helpers off the field who helped to make the day a great success and to League Secretary Phil Hiscox for all his hard work in arranging the ground hop.
