CHILDREN at St Andrew?s School in Buckland Monachorum got to grips with all things fishy recently, when they enjoyed a visit from Masterchef Peter Gorton of the famous Horn of Plenty Restaurant near Gulworthy.
The infant children are currently learning all about the seaside and Peter took the opportunity to show the youngsters the type of food that comes from the ocean.
Class teacher Ben Kay said the children have recently been on a trip to the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth where they learned more about the sea environment. Peter?s visit had provided them with a great chance to touch, smell and even taste a variety of seafood, including crab, plaice, shellfish and mussels.
Mr Kay said: ?All the children thought Peter?s presentation was great. They especially enjoyed the opportunity to feel the different textures of the seafood, such as the squishy fishy eyeball ? but not all were quite daring enough to try tasting the seafood!?
