A NEW computer qualification that includes modules on web page design and desk top publishing ? as well as the more usual computer skills ? is now available in the Computer Learning Zone at the Ockment Centre.
The course gives a basic grounding in the skills required by most employers.
The zone is now well into the second year of its New Opportunities Fund funding which has enabled courses to be offered on an open access basis. This helps students to choose their own time for learning.
The Learning Zone is open five days a week plus Wednesday evenings to allow people with daytime commitments to access the courses.
Geoff Mills, ICT tutor at the Ockment Centre, said: ?I am delighted that we are now able to offer this up-to-date course, particularly as it recognises the importance of making the best use of the internet.?
The centre also offers free taster sessions for beginners who do not yet feel ready to commit to a qualification. Further information is available from the Ockment Centre on (01837) 53276.
