Tavistock A 9 PGSOB D 1 TAVISTOCK hockey ?A? team strengthened their position in the league with an emphatic win over bottom placed Plymouth PGs. From the start of the game Tavistock took command and had the visitors? goalkeeper under constant pressure. The home side soon took the lead with a well taken goal from J Reed, and soon more goals followed from Mackintosh (2) and Cooley Jnr (2). The away side tested the Tavistock defence, but rarely worried goalkeeper Osborne and only managed to score from a short corner. By half time Tavistock had virtually won the game and went into the interval 5-1 up. Capt Cooley made a few minor changes for the second half. Tavistock were missing a few players for this match, but still managed to put out a strong side. In the second half Reed took control of the midfield for Tavistock and was passing the ball well and it was not long before Tavistock were rewarded with more goals. Wood, who was playing an attacking role, scored two goals, Mackintosh scored a further goal for his hat trick and R Young made it nine with a penalty flick after the opposition had fouled the ball on the line. This was a positive result for Tavistock A after such a poor season last year and deserved the 3 points. This week Tavistock travel to Bodmin.
