ZEST athletes Emily Ackford and Jordan Channon, both aged 10, travelled to Macclesfield to compete in The British Biathlon Championships. They qualified to represent the South West by coming first in their biathlon regional heats held at Millfield in March. The girls' timed 1,000 metre run was held first. Emily determinedly overtook some runners during the two and a half laps of the track to come in sixth out of 32 girls representing different regions in the UK, securing a season's personal best of 3mins 43secs. Next it was Jordan's turn to run the 1,000 metres. He paced himself well to come home a close second place out of 26 boys, again achieving a personal best of 3mins 31 seconds. The afternoon saw both competitors swimming 50 metres as fast as they could. Emily completed the two lengths in 43.30 seconds and Jordan swam it in 39.23 seconds. Emily finished a very commendable seventh place and Jordan into fifth. The South West Team came in third out of the eight regions.
