THIS September and October, Gidleigh Park in Chagford is joining forces with a multitude of restaurants across the country to help end child hunger as part of the UK's leading foodie charity campaign Fight Hunger Eat Out.
Supported by an array of culinary luminaries such as Raymond Blanc, Antonio Carluccio, Giorgio Locatelli, Cyrus Todiwala and Rick Stein, the campaign unites food lovers across the United Kingdom to turn their food passion into action and help raise funds towards the life-saving work of humanitarian organisation Action Against Hunger.
Joining hundreds of restaurants across the nation, Gidleigh Park will be supporting the campaign by giving customers the opportunity to donate their small change to help malnourished children and their families worldwide.
Children like one year old Lomuria from Uganda, whose family was left destitute after a raid on the family's cattle meant no food or income for several months. With only one small meal per day, and weakened by malaria, Lomuria weighed a dangerous one stone. However, after receiving treatment at an Action Against Hunger feeding centre, she survived.
To date, Fight Hunger Eat Out has helped raise more than £1.2 million, raising £450,000 last year alone, with all funds going directly to support Action Against Hunger's crucial work.
Simply pop along to Gidleigh Park to enjoy a great meal, and as a result, you can help families in some of the world's poorest countries.
