The Duke of Bedford statue in the Tavistock Guildhall car park was on the move today as work continues to revamp the area.

The Grade 11 Listed structure was all wrapped up to keep it safe and removed by crane from its plinth. The Duke will be put into his new position on the site, a short distance away, on Monday.

The Guildhall car park area is having a major facelift to improve its functionality and public experience.

There will be a new parking layout and pedestrian routes and a new central lawn area. Several car parking spaces will be lost.

The work is being carried out Tavistock Town Council.
