THE Lambs were host to the Gwent County League side on Saturday. Sweltering conditions did not help but both sides put in a lot of effort and a draw was a fair result at the end.

The home side got off to the perfect start after just 5 minutes when a ball over the top of defence saw Chris Tilbury in space to shoot low into the corner. But 2 minutes later Undy were back on level terms thanks to an own goal from defender Craig Hodge.

As the first half drew to a close both sides had good chances to go ahead but Gareth Cullymore when clean through put wide with just Steve Williams to beat and a James Steer cross found Matt Martin but his shot went over the bar.

The goal of the game came after 65 minutes with Steer, Tom Barwell and Kevin Parker combining for the latter to cut the ball back from the wing for Nathan Blamey to coolly pick his spot and side foot into the net from 20 yards.

Williams did well with a quarter of an hour left when he forced James McManus wide and got hands to the ball and it fell again for the striker who cleverly back flicked the ball towards goal but the keeper was able to save again.

The visitors were not to be denied a second goal when Cullymore chased down Pete Southcott to win the ball and slot home with 10 minutes remaining.
