CHURCHES are always worth a visit over the Easter Weekend and the spring flowers are all in bloom in one of Dartmoor's most scenic and historic churches. There is no better time to enjoy the abundance of snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils in Sourton churchyard than early spring. Along with the beautiful setting, cream teas will be served in the church hall on Easter Sunday, March 23, and Easter Monday, March 24, from 1pm until 6pm as part of the church's continuing efforts to fundraise. There will be drinks and sandwiches on offer as well as traditional cream teas. In 1630, Thomas Westcotte described Sourton as: 'A lean land, it is a good summer place for the natives, though perchance it will not be pleasing to some tender and nice constitutions in the winter.' With the worst of the weather seeming to be over and Spring starting to blossom, there is no better time to visit this unique moorland church and the church extends a warm welcome to everybody.
