Tavistock Ladies 7
THE game opened with Tavistock ladies? first hockey team heavy on the attack and awarded numerous short corners.
Laura Armstrong was giving some excellent early calls. Susannah Harland was quick to pick up on these and fed the balls across to Armstrong who, backed up by Sandra Collar and Lisa Butler, was a major threat to the opposition.
Laura Stapleton and Steph Mills were formidable on the right and try as they may the opposition could not get the ball from them.
The first goal for Tavistock came when Susannah Boulle took the ball from the midfield, drove into the D and took a hefty strike at the goalkeeper.
This increased the desire to put in some more goals and Armstrong claimed the second though watching a rebound ball and slapping it back into the goal.
Tavistock were playing some of their best hockey, a clean passing game.
In the second half, they were even more dominant and the odd time the opposition had a break on the midfield line, Stapleton, Dunn and Collar stopped them in their tracks.
Boulle claimed the third goal and only minutes after this Stapleton scored the fourth from an excellent short corner. Horton and Dunn started to push up higher, allowing the midfield strength to push up into the D.
White was quick to get on a ball across from Gawman, and White scored the fifth goal. Armstrong scored again to take the score to 6-0.
Tavistock were quick to intercept and Mills and Stapleton drove the ball up for Gaspar who fed it into a running White who scored again to finish the match with a strong 7-0 win.
