AFTER 15 years, Tavistock’s much-loved owner of the Green Hut has announced she has closed the shop’s shutters for the last time.
Dawn Sheasby said she has loved every minute of owning The Green Hut, based in the Meadows, but said the time had come to look to the future with her husband Paul.
For the many years Dawn has owned the hut, she has built a strong friend base and has watched many children grow up and have their own families.
‘I have been there for 15 years and enjoyed every minute of it.
‘I should like to praise all the honorary children I have mothered over the years, they are a credit to their parents and Tavistock in general.
‘Many thanks to all my customers young and old, past and present and to workers from Tavistock Town Council.’
Dawn now plans to spend time with her family — her son Sebastian, daughter-in-law Jade and granddaughter Olivia, who live in Tenerife, and daughter Holly and soon-to-be son-in-law Chris, who live in North Devon.
‘My family live away from home and I want to spend more time with the children and my grandchild.’
She added: ‘I am normally closed at this time of year so I felt the time was right to close the doors for good as I find it rather emotional and didn’t want to make a fuss.
‘Thank you again to everyone who has been so lovely to me over the years — I wish you all a Happy New Year.’
The Green Hut’s new owner Trudy Eperon is planning to re-open the hut soon.
